In honor of the 90th Anniversary of the Monarchs first Worlds Championship in 1924, Phil S. Dixon is returning to 90 cities where they played games to present this team’s unique history, and he does so with a local twisthe talks about games the Monarchs played in Manhattan against local competitionas well as discusses the history of African-American ball players from our community. Mr. Dixon is an African-American sports historian, author, and co-founder of the Negro League Baseball Museum. For more than thirty years he has recorded African-American sports topics with a vast array of in-depth skill and historical accuracy. He is widely regarded for his expertise on baseball history. Mr. Dixon has authored nine prior baseball books and won the prestigious Casey Award for the Best Baseball Book of 1992.
