During the global outbreak of COVID-19, Manhattan Public Library will remotely issue library cards to those in Manhattan who do not currently have an account. This card will provide access to hundreds of thousands of eBooks, audiobooks, movies, documentaries, and more, just by using your library card. Content for the entire family can be found through our online resources, such as Hoopla Digital, Sunflower eLibrary, Kanopy, and more.
For patrons 13 and older, please fill out our online registration form. Library staff will send your new account information to the email address listed on the online registration form. Please allow two business days for processing. If you haven’t received an email within two business days, please contact library staff at .
Please visit the library to pick up your card within 90 days of the library reopening. Cards that have not been picked up after this time frame will be deactivated.
Frequently Asked Questions
The terms PIN and Password are used interchangeably. By default, your PIN is the last four digits of your phone number. If you have created your own password for your library account, that password is also your PIN. If you registered online your password/PIN will be what you choose. If you filled out a paper registration your password/PIN will default to the last four-digits of your phone number.
If your PIN still isn’t working, we can reset it for you.
Library materials cannot be returned at this time, our drop boxes have been closed, and we encourage all patrons to stay home. Before the library closed, the due dates for most checked-out materials were extended. These materials will not be due back until the library re-opens.
