Become a Friend of the Library
The Manhattan Library Association (MLA) is the official name for the Friends of the Library. MLA raises money to support library programs and purchases through used book sales and membership dues.
MLA is a volunteer, 501c3 non-profit organization and donations to MLA may qualify as tax deductions.

What We Do
Funds raised by MLA have supported:
- The Children’s Library expansion
- Kansas Reads to Preschoolers Week
- Annual Summer Reading Program
- Library programs for all ages
- Special performances and speakers
- Aesop’s Fables trellis sculpture by Ken Bloomer (in the library’s atrium)
The Friends of Manhattan Public Library’s (also known as the Manhattan Library Association) Book Sale is here! Cash, check, credit, and debit cards are accepted. Proceeds benefit the library programs and purchases such as new books, furniture, special events for children, and summer reading programs. Special thanks to Manhattan Parks and Rec and the City of Manhattan IT Division.
2022 Book Sale Location: Wefald Pavilion in City Park
A special preview night, open to MLA members only, who will get the first pick of the sale items. Memberships will be sold at the door, starting at $10.
