Building progress has increased with the warmer and drier weather, and the relocation of utilities on the south side should be completed by the end of the week. Piers to support the new structure have been installed on the north side, and work has begun on the foundation. The north and south doors of the atrium are closed temporarily, although we anticipate that the south side will be open again in 2 to 3 weeks. The north side may be closed longer because the work area is tight.
Staff have reviewed plans for the interior layout with the architect and will be working to choose furnishings. We are also planning to rearrange materials into neighborhoods like Folklore and Fantasy, and Transportation, but will still retain the Dewey system.
