Members of the Kaw Valley Rodeo Association will provide stories and demonstrations for kids, featuring Rodeo Clown Andy North, Barrelman Rick Young and Cowboy Poet Ron Wilson. Great for preschoolers and up. Each child who attends receives a free ticket to the Kaw Valley Rodeo.

The Teen Library Advisory Board is open to 7th-12th grade students who are interested in making the library a more teen friendly place. Share your input on teen programs and collections and have fun at the same time.

Students are invited to learn, watch and play chess. Beginners will learn basic rules and tactics, and more experienced players can improve their skills. Each meeting will include a short lesson on chess strategy. Suggested for 5th-12th graders, but all students are welcome. Instruction and supervision provided by KSU Chess Club. Usually meets 2nd & 4th Thursdays, 3:30-6:00 p.m.

Come join us AT SUNSET ZOO for this month’s ZOOfari Tails storytime, featuring stories about animals! Free admission for families attending the ZOOfari Tails program. Children’s librarians and zoo docents will read stories, followed by zoo staff showing animals and animal artifacts or leading tours to specific exhibits. Monthly book give-away will be sponsored by Claflin Books. Families who attend the event can be entered into a drawing for a free one-year Friends of Sunset Zoo family membership. (drawing in December)

The June storytime series may be over, but the July series is just beginning! Join us at Bluestem Bistro, located at 1219 Moro in Manhattan on Wednesdays in July. We will be reading stories about colors and enjoying the beautiful summer weather out on the patio. There is no registration required and this is a free storytime series. A big thanks goes out to the Bluestem Bistro staff for hosting us!
